  10. alt.sex.movies is a USENET newsgroup dedicated to the intelligent
  11. and mature discussion of adult videos.  Discussion includes, but is
  12. not limited to, reviews of current and not-so-current releases,
  13. gossip, behind the scenes stories, and discussion of actors and
  14. actresses (and directors and producers and...)

  16. If you are new to USENET, I suggest you read the groups news.answers,
  17. news.announce.newusers and news.newusers.questions to get a good feel as
  18. to what USENET is all about.

  20. A staple of USENET is the FAQ document.  FAQ stands for Frequently Asked
  21. Questions.  Many of the questions concerning the newsgroups which have
  22. been asked over and over have been placed into FAQs.  alt.sex.movies is no
  23. different.

  25. The alt.sex.movies FAQ answers MANY MANY MANY common questions -- if you
  26. are new to a.s.m., make sure you READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING!!!!!!!

  78. The people in alt.sex.movies are pretty helpful, and have a good
  79. sense of humor.  However, some things to remember when posting...

  81.           a) Don't ask for replies via e-mail (if the QUESTION is
  82.           worth posting, the ANSWER will be valuable to everyone in
  83.           the group). Also, it implies YOUR time is more valuable
  84.           than THEIRS, since you're expecting _them_ to read all
  85.           the posts to see yours, yet _you're_ not willing to scan
  86.           the subjects to see their reply.

  88.           b) when following up on a posting, please delete any
  89.           non-relevant lines from the original post (including
  90.           header and sig). Posting more than 10 lines from the 
  91.           original post is TOO MUCH. Posting no lines from the
  92.           original is TOO LITTLE.

  94. ALSO, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT EACH TIME YOU POST, YOU'RE ASKING A
  95. COMPLETE STRANGER TO SPEND TIME HELPING YOU:

  97.           - if the answers you receive are not what you wanted,
  98.           DON'T FLAME!, just post a follow-up note thanking the
  99.           respondents for their suggestions so far, and provide a
  100.           clarified problem statement.

  102.           - if you receive no responses, DON'T PANIC!, give it a
  103.           couple of days: it takes a while for postings to
  104.           propagate around the world; sometimes your posting is
  105.           similar to one posted in the previous couple of weeks and
  106.           people are sick of the topic (check your news server's
  107.           archive); sometimes your question is a 'toughie' which
  108.           requires some thinking/research time; and sometimes
  109.           everyone's just too busy.

  111. If you get no reply after a week, try again with additional
  112. clarification, and consider using the following format:
  113.  
  114.           i)   FLATTERY SECTION: "I've learned a lot from the faqs
  115.           and watching the postings for the last month, but now I
  116.           have a really tough problem for you gurus"

  118.           ii)  BEGGING FOR HELP: "I've checked the FAQs, library, 
  119.           etc... any advice would be appreciated (please post
  120.           responses to this newsgroup as I don't read my e-mail
  121.           very often)"

  123.      - if the answers are useful, a quick _e-mail_ thanking the
  124.      respondent(s) is always appreciated
